Q. What is Point-OF-care-Testing (POCT) ?

A. POCT is a medical diagnostic test preformed right at the site of your care - such as in your doctor's office, a clinic, or even at home- rather than sending a sample to a central laboratory. It provides immediate results to help your healthcare provider make fast treatment decisions. 

Q. How long does it take to get results?

A. One of the primary benefits of POCT is speed. Most tests provide results within minutes, typically ranging from 1 to 30 minutes depending on the specific test being performed.

Q. Are these test as accurate as a hospital lab?

A. While POCT devices are designed to be reliable and provide lab-quality results, they may sometimes have different sensitivity or reference ranges compared to traditional laboratory equipment. Your provider will determine if a POCT results is sufficient or if a follow-up lab test is needed for confirmation.

 

Q.  Does a rapid test cost more?

A. While the individual test kit may sometimes have a higher unit cost, POCT often saves you money overall by reducing the need for multiple follow-up visits, additionally travel, and unnecessary treatments.

A. We offer rapid testing for many common needs, including glucose levels (for diabetes), Strep A,Flu,COVID-19,pregnancy,and certain cardio markers or blood thinners (INR).
